Our Process

We produce lovingly hand-cooked crisps using potatoes grown on our Herefordshire farm. We slice and hand-cook our crisps in small batches before flavouring them with the finest locally sourced ingredients to create a fresh taste and great crunch.

Watch us Complete Our Process in Record Time

25 minutes, 29 seconds – Yes, that’s the time it took us to harvest over a tonne of potatoes, send them through the washing, peeling and frying process and get them on the shelf of a nearby farm shop as delicious hand-cooked crisps! If you don’t believe us, here’s the proof…

We’re proud that our record-breaking time showcases what we’re about as a brand: championing low food miles in the product we produce.

Phase 1

We Grow Our Own Potatoes

Our potatoes are planted in April and nurtured throughout the season until they are harvested in September. We know exactly what goes into our crisps and can ensure the highest possible quality. We grow varieties Lady Claire, Lady Rosetta and Taurus as they produce an excellent fry colour, resulting in a crisp that looks as delicious as it tastes.

Phase 2

We Grade Our Potatoes on the Farm

All of our potatoes are graded on our farm, which means they have very low road miles. Our grading system is powered using renewable energy. This is our little way of giving back to the environment.

Phase 3

We Store All of Our Potatoes on the Farm

We store all of our potatoes in temperature-controlled sheds on our farm until we need them, we can’t turn them into crisps all at once! Our sheds are also powered by renewable energy where possible, keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible and our road miles to a minimum.

Phase 4

Fried in Batches

Our potatoes are all hand-fried in small batches to ensure maximum quality. Our chief fryer, Sean is in charge of making sure they achieve that eye-catching golden colour and that distinct crunch.

Phase 5

Herefordshire Inspired Flavours

It was always our goal to showcase the best of Herefordshire in these crisps, so we have ensured that all of our flavourings are sourced from our farm or some of the best local producers to create mouth-watering flavours.

Phase 6

Taste Testing

Our favourite job! Every batch of crisps is taste tested by us, we love our flavours and want to ensure that every batch tastes as good as the last. We will only sign them off once we are happy that they reach our high standards.

Phase 7

Eco-Friendly Packaging

In a pioneering move for the crisp industry we package our crisps in 100% compostable packets. These will completely break down in a home composting environment. We also package into recyclable tins. Just another way in which we give back to the countryside.

Phase 8

Distribution of Our Crisps

When our crisps are all packaged and boxed up they begin their journey to our customers around the country. These are the first time the potatoes have left the farm since being planted. Look out for them in a pub, farm shop or deli near you.
